Vintage Airstream Trailers Inspire New Office Space

The folks at The Metrick System, a Toronto ad agency that specializes in advertising, video and online software development took over a new space this spring and sent over a few pictures for us to drool over this afternoon.  The new location which includes vintage airstream trailers into the concept houses offices, a state-of-the-art recording studio and four sets for shooting video was created by Designer Cheryl Krismer from Crayon Design.  The goal was to pay homage to the heyday of Hollywood by giving the space a highly recognizable, but still contemporary feel.

With views of Lake Ontario and the downtown core, the new location at 100 Miranda Avenue rests on the highest plain in the Greater Toronto Area.  While continuing to deliver all of the advertising, video production and software coding services, the firm now has the space to accommodate its growing team. The interior which occupies 5,800 square feet of industrial space with 17-foot ceilings was carefully designed to offer its clients and employees a creative environment where innovation rules. Three airstreams were converted, one into an office (the president's office), one is a cafe, and the other is a voice over recording studio!

President and Creative Director, Laurence Metrick comments, “It’s almost hard to believe we needed 20 years to figure out what gave us an environment where people wanted to come to work every day, enjoy collaborative creativity and know  they have to walk just a few feet to make a TV spot or record a voice-over.  I knew we got it right when the first 10 guests asked if they could rent an office here.”

By recycling existing furniture, using LED lighting, easily modulated zoned air supply, cardboard tubing as part of the built environment and reclaiming abandoned Airstreams, The Metrick System has managed to create a space that is bold and at the same time environmentally considerate.

The firm which boasts clients such as Reebok, KFC and Ford as some of their clients hosts “Met Talks” every quarter where they invite a luminary from the world of Literature, Film, Television, Music and Communications to treat attendees to an evening of insight and creativity.  The next talk will be held April 24th, 2012 with speaker Mike Ball, VP Social Media at The Metrick System and formerly at Facebook will talk about "Everything you ever wanted to know about social media but were afraid to ask".  To check out their new digs and reserve a spot at the next talk, check out their site for details.
